The Flowers Smile

0

Flowers smiling
Gray winter skies
frigid wet outside
Archana sings prayers
the fire blazes warmth.

Beholding Radha Gopinatha
uplifting spiritual beauties
they kindly glance
to bless everyone.

Esthetically pleasing altar
Deities galore and glorious
lovely jeweled clothes
the flowers smile.

Like trumpets heralding
sun amidst darkness
each petal praising God
arms pointing upward.

The jewels of Kali
simple yet profound
a joy to behold
marveling at the Creator.

Our life a wonder
such great opulence
wondrous beauty
contrasting winter's gloom.

The flowers smile
Radha Gopinatha smile
we smile and tear
feeling grateful, blessed.

Return to timeless japa
hours with my Lords
by their grace
I gradually wake up.

No ordinary moments

Thanks for your appreciation. Though I am only a novice, I am endeavoring to improve, and as in all things, improvement comes by practice and the mercy of Guru and Gaura (Shri Chaitanya). It is said in the Cc that if we remember Lord Chaitanya or the Panca-tattva (the five features of God as Chaitanya and his primary associates) even difficult things become easy. To me good poems can capture in a few words the feeling of the moment, and remind us that our seemingly "ordinary" moments are profound and full of meaning. We can all look at our own lives and slow down to see the hand of Krishna, even in a simple thing like sitting before the fire amidst our altar and flowers. Life is miraculous. Study the wonder of a child and we can appreciate wonder. That is why different teachers extol becoming like a child, or reawakening the beginners mind for our spiritual practices.

On another not, did you just become initiated? You are using a spiritual name now.

Hare Krsna Prabhu,
You're absolutely right. It's important to appreciate...it's important to see Krsna's hand in everything. Yes I got initiated on Saturday. My guru Maharaj is HH Guru Prasad Swami. Take care and keep writing wonderful blogs and poems.

We are on the path of waking up from our dream of being a separate independent enjoyer. Though we have our sadhana or spiritual practice, ultimately it is only by the grace of Shri Guru and Gauranga Nitai that we can be successful. Every breathe and step we take, food we digest, inspiration or thought we have, things we see, speech we make are only by this mercy.
