Can it be said that Srimati Radharani cheated her husband?

Can it be said that Srimati Radharani "cheated" her husband, since Her heart always belongs to Krishna?

Our Answer:

Did Srimati Radharani "cheat" her husband? Indeed she did; however, this was because she could not resist the all-attractive Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna. And this quality of not being able to resist Krishna and to do anything for Krishna (even at the risk of behaving in a socially unacceptable manner) is the perfection of our existence.

Srila Prabhupada says that actually everyone belongs to Krishna—which means our parents, children, siblings, friends, husbands and wives all belong to Krishna. We can, in good humor, ask, “So who is really cheating on whom here?” Really, Radharani belongs to Krishna, and her heart is always with Him. Her husband’s duty is actually to bring her closer to Krishna, just as all of our familial relationships are meant to center on Krishna and help us to become closer to Him. Ultimately, it is only for the sake of heightening her relationship with Krishna that Radharani is married to another. She knows where she belongs—and so does Krishna.
