BG Chap 16 - Qualities of demons which cause hellish existence (asura-sampat)

(i) False pretence (dambha) – performance of religious duties with the intention of being known as religious. Although such a person announces himself as religious, he has a sinful nature. (ii) Pride (darpa) – in having a good lineage, wealth or knowledge. (iii) Conceit (abhimāna) - thinking that one should be respected or being attached to wife, children and other things. (iv) Anger (krodha) – getting angry over trifle things. (v) Cruelty (pāruṣya) – Using rough language in front of others. (vi) Ignorance (ajñāna) – lacking discriminatory powers to decide between proper and improper conduct.

The opposite of all the divine qualities mentioned previously are also included in the demoniac qualities. These qualities appear in a person born with inauspicious impressions which manifest from sinful actions in past lives, and which bear fruit at the time of taking a body
