BG Chap 18 - The controller of illusion

The Supreme Lord, Nārāyaṇa is situated in the heart of all living entities. He directs the wandering of all living beings, who are mounted on a machine made of the material energy. Kṛṣṇa reiterates the fact that the living entity is not the doer but the Lord is. Arjuna was not the supreme knower, and his decision to fight or not to fight was confined to his limited discretion. One’s knowledge is obtained only thru the Supreme Lord who is seated as the antaryāmī. He makes the living beings wander by His māyā śakti. The living entities are mounted on the apparatus characterized by body, senses and prāṇas, constructed by māyā according to their karmas. The Lord makes the living entities move about just as a puppeteer mounts dolls on wooden devices with strings attached and makes them move about.
