The Universal Principle of Lord Caitanya

Can we assume that when this principle is applied and one becomes adept at bhakti yoga one is automatically elevated to the position of a gosvami? What about women? Is this principle of engagement and elevation applicable to women as well? Can women be elevated to the position of a gosvami?
