Janmashtami Read

Janmashtami commemorates the earthly appearance of Krishna, who is described in India’s sacred writings as God Himself.

The significance of the Supreme Being coming to earth.

The Supreme Lord is not formless or impersonal. When we speak of Krishna, we speak of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

There is no “birth” or “death” for God, since by definition He is primeval, always existing, the source of everything, who has no material form with a particular date of creation.

If God is unlimited, why it is so difficult for people to think of Him as a person?

"There was a time in my own life also when my conceptions of God as a person proved inadequate."

Is God an idea? A quality? A white light? Or do these conceptions ignore the most important feature of the Supreme?

A boy who swallowed a raging forest fire to save his friends and relatives? Probably a fairy tale. Boys don’t swallow forest fires.

You may ask, "Why shall we accept Krishna?" Then I shall reply, "Why shall you not?"

Quotable quotes on Krishna's identity and significance as the Supreme Person.
